Join Ruby City for our
5-Year Anniversary Celebration!
Ruby City, has been dedicated to providing a space for the city’s thriving creative community to experience works by both local and internationally acclaimed artists for 5 years and is thrilled to celebrate this important milestone!
Our commitment to the charitable vision of our founder, Linda Pace, underscores her conviction that contemporary art is essential to a dynamic society. Linda Pace Foundation fosters the creation, presentation and understanding of innovative expression through contemporary art.
To celebrate this occasion in the spirit of Linda Pace and our mission, we are elated to welcome to Ruby City, contemporary artist Jeffrey Vallance.
Vallance will host a séance in the form of an “artist spirit” panel on the evening of our 5-year celebration. He will work with three mediums to channel three female artists whose works are included in the Linda Pace Foundatin Collection, Ruby City, Niki de Saint Phalle, Joan Mitchell, and founder, Linda Pace.
The panel discussion will explore themes of creativity and art in the afterlife. The audience will also be able to submit questions to be answered. Vallance anticipates a lively discussion and we welcome you to join us! While an RSVP isn’t required, it is recommended.
Throughout much of his practice, Vallance explores his vivid dreams which inform his work. Much like Ruby City’s founder, Linda Pace, along with other notable artists, Vallance taps into his dreams to guide his work and projects. Ruby City will offer a dream interpretation workshop prior to the sèance with local writing and creativity coach, Leigh Baldwin. Space for the dream interpretation workshop is limited, so be sure to RSVP!
This celebration is free and open to the public and includes a dream interpretation workshop led by local creativity and writing coach, Leigh Baldwin, an artfully baked and decorated cake by local micro bakery, Geranium Club, champagne toast on the plaza, mariachi performance by Mariachis Damas de Jalisco, and finally, a séance led by Jeffrey Vallance.

Vallance, born in 1955 in Redondo Beach California, is an artist whose oeuvre transcends conventional boundaries, merging object-making, installation, performance, curatorial practice and literary craft. Vallance’s work blurs the lines between art and life, incorporating elements of anthropology, folklore, religious iconography, and popular culture. He is known for his unique approach to art, often described as “infiltration art,” which involves him inserting himself into various social, political, and cultural intuitions, creating works that challenge the conventional boundaries and provoke thought. Vallance has established a global presence, exhibiting across diverse cultural and geographical landscapes such as Dakar, Reykjavik, Zurich, Milan, Paris, Mexico City, and more. In recognition of his unparalleled contributions to the art world, Vallance was awarded the prestigious John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation award for installation art in 2004.
He has become known for a series of séances he began hosting in 2009, when he worked with famed medium Joseph Ross to channel the spirit of Richard Nixon during a tour of the Nixon Library, birthplace and grave. One of the best-known séance performances he led was at the Frieze art fair in London, 2010 where he moderated a panel of artists: Leonardo da Vinci, Marcel Duchamp, Frida Kahlo, Vincent van Gogh and Jackson Pollock. In 2014 he hosted a séance with Andy Warhol at the Underground Museum in Los Angeles.
Like many artists, his work is rooted in his own background. Vallance’s interest in the paranormal was piqued by his paternal grandmother and his maternal great-uncle who were clairvoyants and both of whom received recognition for their gifts. While he neither believes nor disbelieves in the paranormal, he is fascinated by the world and lesser known or acknowledged aspects of existence that may not be recognized or treated with seriousness throughout society. He takes an anthropological approach to popular culture, myth and faith based in his own curiosity and an understanding of culture, society and history.
When asked what persuaded him to participate in this celebration, Vallance states, “What really interest me is that during her lifetime, Linda Pace was fascinated in the paranormal and dreams. It seems feting to turn the tables on this to see how she sees things from the other side. I am also interested to hear what she thinks about art and creativity from her vantage point in the afterlife.”
In response to what Vallance anticipates for the evening, he shares, “The kind of psychic medium channeling with several spirits at once is rarely done and with the spirits being able to interact with each other (in the form of a panel) as well as the audience member, there is no telling what may happen!”

Whitney Nolan (San Antonio, TX)
Whitney Noland has been connecting with spirit professionally for 8 years. When she was younger, she started to realize that she was different. Whitney had a unique ability, which at that time use to scare and confuse her. Although she denied it for a long while it was only when she had a near death experience that she was changed. That incident kickstarted her spiritual awakening. She began to embrace and get curious by asking a lot of questions and diving into research which led her to gain an understanding of her gifts.
Now she is a full time Medium and oracle card reader. Living fully in her purpose gives her joy and fulfillment to connect the living with the dead or perhaps the dead with the living to bring healing and closure. As long as she is breathing, she is dedicated to continuing her growth of knowledge and experiences in helping others.

Ruby City’s 5-Year Anniversary Celebration ‘artist spirit’ panel hosted by Jeffrey Vallance is a celebration of the lives, creativity, and artistry of artists Niki de Saint Phalle, Joan Mitchell and Linda Pace.
As Ruby City celebrates this milestone for the institution, this performance demonstrates its commitment to the founding and founding principles which are rooted in contemporary art and artists. Meant to be a unique event for attendees to experience, it aims to be both a playful and reverent experience.
Guidelines for the séance:
- Audience is asked to follow ground rules that will be set at the start of the séance by the host and to refrain from interrupting the performance.
- Audience members will be asked to silence and put away their devices before the beginning of the séance. Once the session is underway, any type of distraction could throw off the energy and prematurely end the séance.
- While the audience will have the opportunity to ask questions of the spirit panel, we ask that they keep questions direct and respectful, avoiding any unnecessary “gotcha” type questions of the spirits.
