Ruby City announces addition of Patricia Morales, as Head of Public Engagement & Communications

Ruby City is pleased to announce the appointment of its new Head of Public Engagement & Communications, Patricia Morales. Prior to her appointment, Morales served as Director of Young Artist Programs under the recent leadership of University of Texas, San Antonio and former leadership of Southwest School of Art for the past 10.5 years.

“I am thrilled to join the staff at Ruby City to build on their existing relationships with local, regional and national communities while bringing my experience in arts management to foster new partnerships, opportunities and continue meaningful experiences with contemporary art for our patrons and community.“

In her new role, Morales has been tasked with growing, developing, diversifying and connecting with audiences by ensuring that Ruby City programs, events, and exhibitions remain relevant and accessible to the broadest possible range of visitors. In addition, she will also offer oversight of strategic, mission-aligned communications that engage with the public in an inclusive way. “Patricia’s appointment,” stated Elyse A. Gonzales, Director of Ruby City, “represents the culmination of a nationwide search for a truly unique individual capable of representing Ruby City to our many different constituencies. I’m delighted to welcome her to our team as her deep knowledge of community engagement, avid interest in contemporary art and regional artists in general along with her vast knowledge of San Antonio’s cultural landscape make her an important asset to our institution and our community at large.

During her time as Director of Young Artist Programs, Morales oversaw the planning, implementation and assessment of community programming which most recently served 3,000 participants annually. Prior to her time as Director of Young Artist Programs she served as Education Coordinator at the Latino Cultural Center in Dallas, TX.

Morales holds a Bachelor of Arts in Art History from the University of North Texas in Denton and a Master of Science in Arts Management from the University of Oregon in Eugene. She has served on various local nonprofit boards, including Planned Parenthood of South Texas and Contemporary Art Month and participated in both national and local leadership programs such as The National Guild for Community Art Education’s, Community Arts Education Leadership Institute, the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s Latina Leadership Institute, and Leadership SAISD. She is originally from the Rio Grande Valley and grew up on the border of Texas and Mexico.
